St. Moritz Snow Polo World Cup 2025
St. Moritz Snow Polo World Cup 2025 celebrates 40 years on the frozen lake with thrilling polo, cultural parades, and world-class races!

From today, January 24 to Sunday, January 26, 2025, the world-renowned resort of St. Moritz in the Swiss Alps will host the most anticipated event of the year: the Snow Polo World Cup. Set against a breathtaking alpine backdrop, the event is set to captivate spectators with thrilling polo action, mesmerising cultural traditions, and an extraordinary atmosphere. With a global audience of 25,000 and the stunning frozen Lake St. Moritz as the venue, the 2025 tournament promises to deliver an experience unlike any other.
This year marks the 40th anniversary of the prestigious tournament, and organisers have pulled out all the stops to make the occasion one to remember. A record number of tickets have already been sold, with VIP and Chukker Club seats in high demand. The VIP tent is sold out for both Saturday and Sunday, as is the renowned Gala at Badrutt's Palace. However, a limited number of tickets remain available for Friday, offering a chance to be part of this iconic event. The Perrier-Jouët Chukker Club, which includes grandstand seating, champagne, and canapés, has also proven highly popular, with seats still available on Friday and Sunday.

The Snow Polo World Cup St. Moritz is the only high-goal polo tournament on snow in the world. The competition brings together some of the finest polo players and ponies, with the lake’s ice surface offering ideal conditions for the sport. With over 40 cm of thick, high-quality ice covering the lake, and temperatures hovering around freezing, players and ponies are assured of perfect conditions. Polo ponies, specially fitted with horseshoes and rubber hoof grips, are ready for the snowy surface, and they’ve been arriving in St. Moritz from across Europe to acclimatise ahead of the tournament.

The polo matches will be complemented by an exciting cultural program. On Saturday, January 25, the traditional Schlitteda parade will roll through the Polo Village at 13:30, with participants showcasing the distinctive dances of the Upper Engadine region. This unique celebration, rooted in local culture, involves horse-drawn sleighs and couples dressed in red and black traditional costumes. The parade is one of the many ways St. Moritz celebrates its heritage during this extraordinary weekend.
Sunday will see the intersection of two world-class events. As the Snow Polo World Cup draws crowds from across the globe, the COOP FIS Cross-Country World Cup will kick off with men’s and women’s 20km freestyle races, starting at 12:30 and 15:00 respectively. Athletes from around the world will compete in these iconic races, with the Snow Polo grounds serving as the stunning backdrop. Between races, the vibrant Chalandamarz pageant will take place at 13:30. This centuries-old tradition, featuring schoolchildren from Graubünden, will fill the Polo Village with energy as they parade with whips, bells, and songs to mark the arrival of spring and ward off the winter cold.

For those attending the event, the Polo Village will be a hub of activity, offering an array of culinary delights and live music to add to the festive ambience. Spectators will have the opportunity to enjoy world-class polo matches, cheer on cross-country skiers, and immerse themselves in the traditions of the region, all in the heart of the Swiss Alps.
